Farm Transitions Australia (FTA) is a registered charity dedicated to assisting Australian dairy and beef farmers facing hardship and seeking a transition from the industry. Our mission is to empower farmers to build a brighter future for themselves and their families by exploring new career paths, embracing sustainable business ventures, or transitioning to horticulture. FTA provides free direct and indirect support and business services, eliminating exit barriers and enabling farmers to graciously transition their farms.

Supporting farmers through change

Navigating the complexities of intricate production systems, unpredictable weather patterns, and soaring input costs, dairy and beef farmers face a landscape riddled with challenges. Droughts, floods, and the disruptive effects of climate change only compound the already formidable task of managing a dairy or beef operation.

For many, particularly those in the dairy sector, farming life has become increasingly arduous. Amidst long working hours, minimal downtime, mental health concerns, high input costs, staff shortages, and a volatile export market, farmers find themselves feeling trapped within a system that offers little respite.

However, amidst these challenges, there is a noticeable shift within the dairy industry towards openness to change. More farmers are seeking avenues for financial stability, striving to alleviate persistent stress, and considering potential career shifts, even if it means departing from the industry they hold dear.

Recognising this growing openness to change, Farm Transitions Australia is dedicated to supporting farmers in pursuing financial security, stress relief, and career satisfaction.
