About

We are working with farmers to create a more sustainable future for farmers and their families, consumers, and the planet.

Farm Transitions Australia (FTA) is a registered charity dedicated to assisting Australian dairy and beef farmers facing hardship and seeking a transition from the industry. Our mission is to empower farmers to build a brighter future for themselves and their families by exploring new career paths, embracing sustainable business ventures, or transitioning to horticulture. FTA provides free direct and indirect support and business services, eliminating exit barriers and enabling farmers to graciously transition their farms.

Our Vision

We envision a future where our farming system is built upon principles that honour and respect nature, fostering a harmonious relationship between agriculture and the environment. A farming system that improves farmers' well-being and financial viability and demonstrates how values and business interests can work together to create a system that benefits people, animals and the planet.

Mission

Our mission is to reduce the risks and barriers Australian dairy and beef farmers face in exiting or transitioning their farms by exploring new career paths, embracing new sustainable business ventures, or transitioning to horticulture. We aim to do this by working with farmers to find viable options, consulting experts, and providing business support and project management services. Our goal is to empower farmers and support them in their pursuit of financial security, stress relief, and career satisfaction.

Approach

We aim to ensure sustainable and viable outcomes for farmers desiring to exit or transition from dairy or beef farming, contributing to a more sustainable future for themselves, the animals, and the environment. To achieve this overarching objective, we adopt a three-fold approach.

  1. Farm transitions and farmer support
  2. Advocacy, public awareness campaigns and education
  3. Relationships and collaboration with likeminded organisations
